Cutting-edge business centre wins prestigious award

Date: 29/05/2009

The Royal Institute of British Architects (Riba) has commended a major development in Cambridge for its design and structure, highlighting its cutting-edge approach to corporate events.

It was revealed that the Study Centre at the Moller Centre in the university city was a regional winner at the annual architecture awards hosted by Riba, with all winners going through to the highly-coveted Stirling Prize for Architecture.

While providing a collaborative learning environment for teaching institutions, facilities at the Study Centre allow for great team building and an experiential learning environment to develop new business ideas to improve company performance.

Gillian Holdom, the director of the Moller Centre, said: "We are delighted to win this award. Since the new development opened two years ago, the space has been very popular with clients and has been used in many different and exciting ways."

She added that staff, clients and architects were able to translate their desires into reality.

This week, Riba launched a competition for designers to come up with a concept for a "living bridge" over the River Thames, celebrating the 800th anniversary of the river's first permanent crossing, London Bridge.ADNFCR-2060-ID-19193579-ADNFCR
