Corporate team building events need careful consideration

Date: 01/07/2010

Businesses need to ensure that their corporate team building events are carefully planned and well considered, it has been claimed.

According to business reporter Caitlin O'Toole, the popularity of team leadership and motivation activities is on the increase, but many firms are wary that some events are a waste of time.

Writing for News.co.au, O'Toole claimed that team building corporate events can undoubtedly boost communication between departments, allow for the swift integration of new staff members and break down negative attitudes.

However, she added that when staff turnover is high and redundancies have been made, businesses need to ensure that their corporate team building events do not 'ring hollow'.

According to Cheeky Foods founder Leona Watson, boosting the inclusiveness of team building activities is vital.

She told the news provider: "The great thing especially about cooking together as opposed to the more physical sports, is you've got an 18-year-old receptionist up to a 60-year-old partner, everyone can be a part of it."

According to corporate incentives industry expert Andrew Hodgkins, team building corporate events increase motivation.
