Corporate team building events can 'keep staff motivated'

Date: 20/10/2010

Using corporate team building events can be a cost-effective means of keeping staff engagement high and boosting employee motivation, it has been claimed.

According to employment and HR expert Suresh Naidoo, workers want to be able to expand their range of skills and experience other aspects of the company they work for - something which can be achieved through inter-departmental team building activities.

Corporate team building events are also a great way of getting employees to put forward new ideas and contributions.

Writing for the Times Live, Saidoo said that being listened to makes employees feel valued.

He added that staff should be allowed to have an input on the types of reward and recognition programmes that are made available to them.

"Organisations should develop creative ways to recognise performance. Employees should be approached for suggestions on the non-financial rewards that appeal to them. In this way, the possibility of buy-in from them would increase," Saidoo said.

Recently, Smart Business writer Kevin Daum claimed that strong inter-team relationships can boost problem solving capabilities at a company.
