Corporate event management is 'picking up'

Date: 24/06/2010

Corporate event management is finally beginning to pick up following the negative impact of the recent recession and global economic downturn.

According to new research by industry expert Special Events, sentiment in the sector is improving and many corporate events management firms are expecting a return to growth.

The trade magazine's Corporate Event Marketplace study, which will be published in full next month, shows that 18 per cent of corporate conference providers expect to host more events in the coming year, while 35 per cent believe the trend will continue into 2011.

"This is a big improvement over last year's study, when a whopping 38 percent of respondents said they expected to stage fewer events in 2009 than they did in 2008," Special Events reporter Lisa Hurley wrote.

Meanwhile, a third of firms said that they expect to maintain their current levels of spending on corporate team building events.

Last year, the public sector's major departments spent around £500,000 on team building corporate events.
