Corporate event management: Wagamama celebrates 20th birthday with staff party
Date: 26/01/2012
Wagamama, the noodle restaurant, celebrated its 20th birthday by inviting its entire staff for a corporate party at the Ministry of Sound.
Such events are a great way to mark a landmark year in a company's history, establish links with other businesses and boost employee motivation.
Every last detail of corporate event management was considered as the staff were transported from 12 separate locations across the UK for the occasion.
Taking 20 years as the theme, the infamous nightclub was transformed so that each area represented the music from the past 20 years.
Hot Chip and Zinc provided special performances in order to make the entertainment memorable for everyone.
Events such as these help to make staff feel part of the organisation and emphasise the pride in working for a well established company.
Ingrid Williamson, marketing director for Wagamama, said: "This is the 20th event we’ve thrown for our staff, and whilst everyone is equally as important, this one is a little more special. It’s our way of saying thank you to our staff and it had to have a real wow factor."
Networking is another important part of corporate events. By having all of a firm's staff brought together this way, greater links can be formed across different branches.
Wagamama is a Japanese term for a naughty child, which adds to the company's ethos as an informal dining establishment.
In its 20 year history it has grown from a solitary restaurant in Bloomsbury into a global brand.
Another brand celebrating its birthday is Bacardi. The 150-year-old company is another good example of how anniversaries can be harnessed for the good of an organisation.
Instead of celebrating exclusively with staff, Bacardi is throwing parties across the globe for its customers as part of a brand experience on a large scale.
