Corporate event management: Use corporate conferences to discuss office wear

The issue of workwear is a hot topic at the moment – whether it's what employees should wear when the weather's hot or issues of discrimination in the headlines – so setting a formal dress code could resolve problems for your workers.

One way businesses may like to discuss what their dress code will be is during corporate conferences, where they can interact with workers to find out how they feel about the topic.

According to Charlotte Wolff, an employment relations editor at XpertHR, a formal dress code makes sure all staff know where they stand with workwear – so using corporate event management to discuss the issue could be beneficial to employee motivation.

"A 'business casual' dress code is notoriously hard to define, as is a 'relaxed' code. So the policy should set out what is not allowed, or what is required, depending on the needs of the organisation.

"It should also be communicated widely to ensure that employees are aware of the policy's existence."

Businesses could communicate the policy at corporate conferences, to give staff the opportunity to hear why it has been put in place.
