Managers should train their staff to be cautious when it comes to phishing scams, so why not discuss the risk with staff at corporate conferences.
Corporate event management is a great way of communicating with staff at one time, and you could even recruit an expert to let staff know the dangers of email phishing and how they can be aware of it.
According to Tony Neate, managing director of Get Safe Online, "good corporate governance" is important when it comes to staff training about online safety.
"I think it is good corporate governance, in relation to any emails that are received, to make sure that they go to the person that they allegedly relate to and it is fully checked out before any correspondence is entered into at all.
"Just be aware of what the current scams are out there and be aware that criminals are using this method to obtain financial information and money."
These comments follow a blog post by Graham Cluley, senior technology consultant at Sophos, who said recently that a new type of phishing email is posing a risk to Microsoft Outlook, which claims to be from Microsoft.
