The importance of the corporate event industry in the UK and where its support should come from has come under scrutiny.
Eventia, the trade body for the sector, came together with Nick de Bois, MP and chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Events to discuss the issues, reports Meetpie.
Rob Allen, chair of Eventia, told the news provider: "In the lead up to the Olympics, it is even more critical that the government understands and takes seriously the overall contribution of the UK events industry."
He went on to speak of the advantages of speaking to Mr de Bois who is as passionate about corporate event management as his organisation is.
Both parties reiterated their commitment to working together and establishing support networks through central and local government.
Eventia was created in 2006 bringing together the Corporate Events Association and the Incentive Travel & Meetings Association, which was then joined by the British Association of Conference Destinations in 2009.
