Corporate event management: Rehearse properly before speaking at corporate conferences

Date: 21/02/2011

Anyone giving presentations at corporate conferences should make sure they practice thoroughly first, according to one expert.

Writing for the Globe and Mail, journalist Mark Evans said that whenever he has to speak in public at conferences and corporate events he makes sure he thoroughly rehearses beforehand.

He said that he never used to practice and simply made a PowerPoint presentation in advance and then adlibbed, however, he now realises what a difference a few run-throughs can make.

"The biggest lesson I can pass along is do everything you can to put your best foot forward.

"Do your homework and be prepared – whether you're presenting at a conference, in a meeting or during a sales call," Mr Evans added.

According to Presentation magazine, when speaking at a corporate conference it is advisable to dress for success in a smart suit and pay attention to the little details like your shoes and nails.
