Corporate event management: Panel discussion to launch Britain for Events

An industry panel discussion is to be hosted by Britain for Events on Wednesday, in order to launch the campaign.

It is to be held at the IET in Savoy Place and will focus on the messages that all those in the world of corporate conferences and events send out, reports Event magazine.

Attention will also be given to where the industry stands at present with 2012 marking a particularly important year.

Michael Hirst, chair of the Business Visits & Events Partnership, said: "Britain for Events is more ambitious than ever and we’re looking to continue our mission to encourage business to use events to spread awareness, share knowledge and create memorable experiences."

A number of high profile people associated with events in the UK will be on the panel, including Katie Rezniak, head of events and hospitality for ITV, and Jonny Sullens, group director for International Confex.

In attendance will be representatives from various governmental bodies, such as the Department for Culture Media and Sport and UK Sport.

Mr Hirst said: "With the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and the London Olympics and Paralympics, Britain's expertise in staging the very best is on show across the world. Now is the time to build on this success."

This is backed up by all delegates being served a best of British menu provide by the venue in question, as a way of highlighting the quality the UK has to offer.

The events industry in Britain is estimated to be worth £36 billion and much effort is being put into making sure that the legacy of the Olympics and the Queen's Diamond Jubilee is that that figure rises.

Each year Britain for Events is launched anew in order to promote Britain as a destination for all types of events.
