Looking forward to an important year for corporate events in Britain, an expert in the industry has expressed his optimism despite the possibility of a double dip recession.
Author of the EIBTM Industry Trends Report 2011, Rob Davidson, said that those in corporate event management had reasons to be positive as bookings are up and demand is high for 2012.
As well as first tier cities, such as London, which are expected to do well, he has predicted that those in the second tier, which includes Edinburgh, may benefit as they are able to offer slightly lower prices for corporate conferences and parties.
Mr Davidson suggested that those companies and venues which have survived the difficult times will go on to grow from strength to strength and he is expecting more competitors to work together.
The London 2012 Olympic Games are expected to give a boost to the events industry next year and those who work within it are hoping to capitalise on delegates coming to Britain for the important sporting event.
He said: “The year started off with a recovery. It’s now becoming weak and uncertain but the mood within our industry is still positive. Are we too optimistic? I don’t think so."
