Directors from companies who offer corporate event management and corporate party planning have met for the Great Christmas Party Debate at BMA House to discuss the current attitudes of clients this year.
The general consensus seems to be that companies are decreasing their Christmas party budgets this year due to the financial squeeze with 95 per cent of enquiries asking for packages worth £50 per head.
Some companies will decide to change the format of their Christmas party this year and go for something unusual in an attempt to cut down the budget, but still reward employees with a good time.
Research by Aviva last year found that one in five office workers drink so much at the office party that they call in sick to work the next day.
Alasdair Adam, director of Office Christmas, said: "We must remember that London is a completely different market to the rest of the UK. Anything above £60 outside of London is considered extravagant."
