Employees would rather work in a fun environment than have a bigger pay packet, according to a recent poll.
Around three-quarters (74 per cent) of those questioned by Adecco said that they would prefer to work in an environment that fosters fun rather than somewhere better paid, which really highlights the importance of corporate party planning and team building activities.
Andy Powell, director at Adecco, said: "As the global economy continues to strain under the burden of debt, employers should take heart from the fact workers we surveyed value a fun working environment over pay.
"Generating loyalty and commitment need not be about hard cash. In a climate of wage restraint, employers would do well to focus on employee wellbeing and happiness."
Bearing this in mind, in order to get the best out of their workers, companies should try and foster an atmosphere of inclusiveness and friendliness.
Instead of giving bonuses to managers and other members of staff, why not use some of that cash to throw a party all employees can enjoy?
