Corporate event management could be a useful way of discussing dressing-down at work, after research has revealed that around half of workers say they feel more confident when dressed in comfortable clothes.
The study, by Hotter Comfort Concept Shoes, has suggested that ties and suits could be a thing of the past, as almost half of people say they wear shoes for work that feel comfortable, rather than killer heels.
Around 50 per cent of the 3,000 workers surveyed said they work better when they are comfortable – giving managers plenty of food for thought to discuss at corporate conferences.
Two-thirds of people say they dress more casually for work now compared to ten years ago, and only one-third of women wear a shirt to work.
"The evidence is clear to see, comfort has officially made a comeback," said Paul Sayers, product design director from Hotter Shoes.
Yesterday, Charlotte Wolff, an employment relations editor at XpertHR, suggested that a formal dress code makes sure all staff know where they stand with workwear – so it really is a useful topic to cover during corporate conferences.
