Corporate event management: Birmingham voted best event city outside London by industry experts

Those working in corporate event management have voted Birmingham the top destination in the UK outside of London for events.

The British Meetings & Events Industry Survey 2011/2012 consulted more than 600 people working within the industry and Birmingham came out top for the third year running.

It also found that with value for money at the forefront of many event organisers' minds, smaller regional events were being favoured over more extravagant alternatives.

More hotel space will be available for those attending corporate events as several of the large chains including Hilton are building developments in the city.

Having such big corporate conference venues as the NEC and the ICC will certainly have helped to make Birmingham the top destination.

Ian Taylor, commercial director at Marketing Birmingham, said: "Our enviable location at the heart of the country and the variety of our great value venues are frequently highlighted by our delegates as major draws."
