Corinthia to relaunch Metropole for 2010

Date: 21/05/2009

Next week, work is set to begin on refurbishing the former Metropole hotel, one of the most-recognised hotels in all of London, it has been announced.

The Corinthia brand will be brought to London for the first time in a £135 million revamp which will feature a number of large-scale developments for corporate events, including a large restored ballroom and a range of meeting spaces.

It is expected that, upon completion, the hotel in its Trafalgar Square location will have 283 rooms and be of a five-star standard.

The developments follow the purchase of the property by Malta's International Hotel Investments, the Libyan Foreign Investment Company and Istithmar Hotels FZE.

Commenting on the investment earlier in April, Corinthia Hotels founder Alfred Pisani said: "The London project will also provide us with an excellent platform to continue to pursue our aggressive expansion strategy, with further acquisitions and developments currently being considered."

Alongside international investments in Europe and Africa, Corinthia Group also specialises in industrial and flight catering.ADNFCR-2060-ID-19181519-ADNFCR
