Construction of eco corporate conferences venue driven forward
Date: 28/07/2010
An environmentally-friendly corporate conferences venue in Brockholes has entered its second phase of construction.
According to Event magazine, the new multi-million pound corporate events management venue will begin taking bookings from January of next year as development continues to be driven forward.
The venue, construction of which is being funded by the Northwest Regional Development Agency as part of the Newlands re-development scheme, will have a capacity of 150 people.
It will be part of a 106-hectare nature reserve near Preston, which will open in the spring of 2011.
Planning permission for the new floating venue and visitors centre, which was designed by Adam Khan Architects, was given in the summer of 2009.
At the time, Richard Tracey, head of environmental quality at the Northwest Regional Development Agency said: "Brockholes will provide an important and distinctive visitor attraction for the region, influencing future investment for the area, with economic and social impacts felt at both a local and regional level."
