Consent given to plans for £250m conference centre development

Team building conferences and live brand experiences could be coming to Telford after it was announced that venue in the area is to be expanded as part of a regeneration project.

The International Centre in Telford is to be updated and have its capacity increased as part of a £250 million scheme which will aim to make the area much more attractive for holding conferences.

Much of the money will be funnelled into 300,000 sq ft of office space, as well as two hotels for delegates to stay in when attending the venue.

The 30-acre site was agreed with by Telford & Wrekin Council, which gave outline consent for the development to go ahead at its location close to the Telford Shopping Centre.

Additional car parking spaces will also be created to help improve access to the facility.

The International Centre already has over 11,000 sq m of flexible event space as well as three hotels with a total of 341 bedrooms.
