Confidence 'must be cultivated' in workplace

Date: 11/02/2009

The current economic climate is making it more necessary for firms to create schemes to help in motivating employees, it has been stated.

Jim Clemmer, a management specialist and expert in the field of motivation, said bosses needed to address "moose on the table" issues - in other words, things that people all knew about but were not willing to discuss openly.

Through such team building exercises as asking employees directly about their feelings on such situations, as well as writing down morale-affecting matters in the workplace, managers can improve performance and improve the way they are motivating employees, he adds.

Mr Clemmer concluded: "Empowering staff is the most cost-effective way to raise the bar for employee morale.

"A staff that believes management is doing everything it can to help the organisation succeed will be more willing to invest in the overall success."

Mr Clemmer is well-known in North America for his motivational speeches and is an author of a range of books tackling staff engagement as well as reward and recognition.ADNFCR-2060-ID-19020442-ADNFCR
