Conference centres in Europe 'cutting costs for Brits'

Date: 11/05/2009

Business and leisure tourism are being targeted by a number of locations on the continent which are keen to capitalise on British corporate event interest, it has been stated.

A spokesman for the Association of Independent Tour Operators (AITO) said that Britain is one of the largest markets for events organisers and corporate hospitality events and as a result, many are happy to cut their prices to attract foreign interest.

He explained that hotels are much happier to reduce prices if it means they will be fully booked up, rather than arranging nobody for the room and leaving it empty.

The representative added: "Europe will always remain strong and it is always a default destination.

"It is easy to get to, it's convenient and there is a comfort that you are not that far away from home if needs be."

According to the most recent Post Office Holiday Costs Barometer, Bulgaria, Turkey and Croatia may be the best place to go for a corporate event on a tighter budget, with the company rating the trio as the cheapest hosts on the continent.
