Concorde Conference Centre expands offering
Date: 02/07/2009
A conference facility based around an iconic Anglo-French aircraft is expanding its offerings as part of a scheme to attract more corporate events, it has been announced.
The Manchester Evening News revealed that the Concorde Conference Centre at Manchester Airport - which uses one of the planes in the hangar to serve as an oversized focal point to the building - has created the Ringway Restaurant, a 110-seater eatery with its own chef and kitchen team.
Views of the airport's runways will be clearly visible to attendees through a glass wall, with event organisers being able to host anything from corporate hospitality meetings through to weddings and team building exercises.
Ed Ainslie, the director of the facility, told the newspaper that it is regularly seen as an "exciting venue" for many different groups.
An airport spokesman added: "A lot of clients want to keep the location secret until the last minute, so it is an extra surprise when guests find they can get on board the aircraft."
Concorde retired from active service in November 2003, following over 35 years of service between London Heathrow, Paris Charles de Gaulle, New York JFK and Washington Dulles airports.
