Company speaks of morale-boosting methods

Date: 24/04/2009

A company has officially beaten the crunch, using technology, forethought and good planning to implement a scheme which has stopped them from laying people off.

In a report for the Los Angeles Times, the methods for motivating employees were laid out by managers from Primary Freight Services, a small logistics company which has held onto all 66 staff members since before the difficult economic period.

The company spoke of its primary way of preserving morale and performance: through the use of weekly two-hour video conferences to help people look at ways of dealing with burnout and stress in the office.

Despite sales falling by 21 per cent in the first quarter, owner John Brown has stood firm in the face of unprecedented hardship.

He told the LA Times: "It's hard, but you have a culture that we've created for 12 years and you've got to stay true to that."

These fundamentals have also been upheld by Rachel Solomon of the Wall Street Journal, who stated that with talented staff still able to move on in the recession, retaining and motivating staff is more important than ever.ADNFCR-2060-ID-19139293-ADNFCR
