Companies should view holiday parties as 'great team building corporate events'

Date: 06/11/2009

Companies ought to liaise with corporate events management this Christmas if they hope to boost morale, productivity and bonding within their organisation, according to a new report.

Joyce M Rosenberg of the Canadian Press explained that even when the economy forces small businesses to scale back the size of their get-togethers over holiday periods, such team building corporate events can be a great opportunity to boost motivation in the workplace.

She asserted that companies must ensure they ask their employees how the budget should be allocated, however small it may be, adding that by being creative with this money, organisations can show their best intentions to workers.

Chief executive officer of Warner Communication Pam Springer told the news resource: "Where things fail is where people try to force things because it's Christmas.

"If you lay the groundwork throughout the year, it makes for a much richer environment, and people are much more willing to share."

Last month, Ben Wilmott, the senior public policy adviser for the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, said businesses ought to use parties as part of an incentives and recognition scheme to reward staff in spite of the downturn.
