With Christmas fast approaching and fears surrounding recession and unemployment, companies are trying their hardest to ensure they keep morale up within their business, it has been stated.
In a report for the Fort Worth Business Review, chairman of the Department of Management at the University of North Texas Vicki Goodwin told of how businesses were turning to corporate events and team building exercises to ensure that people stayed in good spirits.
The professor added that stress which could arise out of a lack of this interaction could result in illness, which would have a detrimental effect on a company.
She continued: "They are going to be more subject to injury, which people are when they are under a lot of stress, and all of that will potentially lead to absenteeism," she said, adding that this could "impact the bottom line" of a company.
Online health advice resource Medicine Net spoke of the effects of stress on the human body, noting muscle tension, headaches, anxiety and fatigue as major issues which can crop up.
