Comedy is 'needed for best business performance'
Date: 17/12/2009
In order to get the most out of workers, companies should embrace a good sense of humour if there is to be a good level of feedback in any team building conference, it is asserted.
A recent report for the BBC underlined how many businesses are looking to balance performance and company profile with comedy, noting that it plays on many of the same principles, particularly creativity and communication.
One firm proponent of the method is Miriam Bartlett, a freelance insurance lawyer who told the BBC: "You got three people to come up with something coherent and fun, on the base of shared knowledge and division of labour.
"And you have to listen to each other, otherwise you get a cacophony. That works in business, too."
It follows a strongly-emphasised belief as put forward by Diane Stafford of KansasCity.com, who explained that businesses must ensure that company culture is at a strong level before using incentives and recognition, as such plans need communication to work properly.
