Charity-based corporate team building events on the rise

Date: 25/10/2010

Charity-based corporate team building events are becoming more popular amongst US businesses, it has been claimed.

According to Corporate Teams, charity led initiatives can result in meaningful team building that revolves around a series of rewarding, strategic challenges.

"Team members increase their team performance and gain a sense of giving," the company claimed.

Marcia Neville, director of corporate partnerships at the Women's Bean Project, one such initiative that involves philanthropic team building activities, said that partnerships between the private and third sector help to "spread the word about our mission" as well as helping to boost employee motivation at the companies involved.

"These events leave a lasting impact on everyone that participates," explained Liz Hafer, chief executive officer of Corporate Teams.

According to the Department of Work and Pensions, employees in the private sector often receive less reward and recognition than their public and third sector counterparts.
