The current financial climate is making it more important for businesses to ensure that staff are motivated as a means of survival in an unforgiving market, an expert has said.
John Bell, a professional business speaker, said staff morale was best left to the organisation of a corporate event manager or company, although bosses are in the best position to work with such advisers as they knew the particulars of their business which a specialist can adapt their scheme to.
He argued that in this environment, motivating employees was important as it would prepare a company for the "inevitable approaching storm" which the economy is presenting.
Mr Bell said: "A motivator is an essential commodity to be utilised during recession because motivation is inseparable from survival and any related success.
"Tragically, for many, what is at stake is simple survival."
His comments follow those made by the Federation of Small Businesses, which has predicted that as many as 30,000 establishments could go bankrupt during 2009 - equivalent to 500 a week.
