Businesses face character and leadership challenges

Date: 04/10/2010

Modern companies should be facing up to challenges of character and leadership, it has been claimed.

According to Phil Eastman, whose lectures on employee motivation, entitled The Character of Leadership: An Ancient Model for a Quantum Age, have been taking the business world by storm, "the challenges we face today are not economic, environmental, social, or legal; they are challenges of character and leadership".

Speaking at the Signature Customer Service and Support Professionals Conference, he was reported by News Factor as saying: "Any team can learn how to manage these [wider] issues better by identifying [and] improving leadership ability styles."

Mr Eastman, a well-known author of a number of leadership and employee engagement books, claimed that strong leadership and motivation will increase a company's effectiveness while also boosting its efficiency.

Last week, Bill Morrow, chief executive officer of CSIdentity, said that creating effective corporate team building events relies on strong leadership and motivation.

He said that forward-thinking was needed if managers were to keep employee engagement high.
