Businesses 'combining work with fun' to boost employee morale

Date: 08/04/2010

Growing numbers of businesses are stepping up their efforts to boost employee morale levels, it has been reported.

While in the past work and fun may have been two completely separate concepts, according to a new report from the Deccan Herald, business chiefs are now looking to blur this boundary so as to boost worker morale, and thereby production levels.

Indeed, the report has revealed how some of India's biggest businesses are working hard to inject an element of "fun" into the workplace, with in-house sports sessions, birthday parties and crafts sessions now recognised as effective means of offering staff incentives and recognition.

"These initiatives act as a stress buster for work-related tension and a packed action day," ADP India HR chief Satyanarayana Vinjamoori said of such team building corporate events.

"These activities are not only a subtle way to bring employees together but it is a way to chill and help new employees get attuned to unfamiliar surroundings."

Meanwhile, businesses in the north-east of England are being invited to join in an upcoming team building event in aid of the Great North Air Ambulance.
