Bosses must give instruction 'then take a step back'
Date: 25/01/2010
Bosses need to be able to foster a creative atmosphere in the office following a team building conference, according to a new study.
According to the Delmarva Daily Times, the micromanagement of staff will mostly lead to them doing exactly the things that need to be done, though a boss' self-belief that their way is best will fail as it will stifle the creativity and morale of staff.
It continued: "Give the instructions on what you need, and then step back.
"Let them learn how to proceed, let them ask you questions, and let them grow as employees by doing things on their own. You need to be flexible."
The news provider explained that people may discover that employees' work is better than ever before, though caution is advised to not give them too much freedom, to maintain the boss dynamic and to step in if there are any problems.
This month, Florent Francoeur, the president and chief executive officer of the the Ordre des conseillers en ressources humaines in Canada, said that by improving internal communications, employers can restore employee confidence and respond to the recession-led drop in motivation.
