Bosses are 'main reason unmotivated employees leave'
Date: 20/01/2009
Managers should think about their role in the departure of their employees, according to a survey released this week.
Robert Half International found that unhappiness with management was the main reason as to why employees would leave their jobs in 2009, with 35 per cent of respondents citing this point - up from 23 per cent in 2004.
This may encourage bosses to hire an events agency and look into hosting a company event as a way of motivating employees.
Chairman and chief executive officer of Robert Half International Max Messmer said that employees simply wanted a recognition programme or some form of reward or acknowledgement for their efforts.
He continued: "If offering a promotion isn't an option right now, managers should consider providing employees with professional development opportunities and the flexibility to pursue projects that will help them expand their skill sets."
Robert Half International is the world's largest specialised staffing service, founded in 1948 and now a Fortune 500 company.
