Employers are being offered an online programme to help them increase employee motivation in their workplace.
Developed by Creativeedge Learning, the e-programme will enable managers to improve their "emotional intelligence" and that of their employees.
This programme could provide a much-needed opportunity to boost staff morale, as this week a study by Hay Group revealed that UK workers are the most disengaged in Europe.
The study found that 29 per cent of staff are disengaged, defined as "unwilling to go the extra mile for their firms".
Mark Rose, training director at Creativeedge, said that managers are not spending enough time developing their emotional intelligence.
"When experiencing stress too many managers are allowing rational thinking and decision making to go out of the window - harming relationships and damaging productivity. Poor emotional intelligence is often a factor," he said.
"It's important that leaders are able to control the flow of emotions between themselves and the people around them."
