Blackpool is 'pushing to appeal to corporate clients'

Date: 18/05/2009

The Lancashire seaside town of Blackpool is making a concerted effort to promote its corporate hospitality event facilities and other assets to appeal to a more sophisticated clientele.

A spokesman for Visit Blackpool, the regional tourist agency, explained that the new campaign aims to attract families and businessmen alike who may be impressed with the wide range of facilities it has to offer, perhaps for corporate events.

He said of events facilities: "There is the Sealife Centre, the Pleasure Beach, the Ballroom, which has a circus underneath it that puts on shows every year. There is a lot to see and do."

The representative added that Blackpool is also trying hard to increase the quality of its food as well as its bed and breakfasts, meaning that it can appeal to those on a smaller budget.

According to the Lancashire and Blackpool Tourist Board, it is hoped that 85 million visitors will hit the county each year by 2016, with the area hoping that such interest could support as many as 70,000 jobs in the local area.ADNFCR-2060-ID-19175241-ADNFCR
