Ballroom dancing 'is the ideal team building event'

Date: 28/05/2010

Shaking your stuff is the latest hot team building activity, according to research carried out by one of the UK's best-known seaside spots.

A study by VisitBlackpool found that the success of programmes like Strictly Come Dancing have helped to bring the unifying power of dance into the spotlight, the Blackpool Gazette reports.

Blackpool has played host to the popular show this year and corporate packages, including group ballroom dancing lessons as team building activities, have never been more popular.

"Ballroom dancing is a real team effort and employees are finishing classes feeling energetic and motivated," Mandy Tythe-McCallum, business tourism manager for VisitBlackpool, told the newspaper.

Not only this, but the intimate nature of dance helps to break down barriers and bring the more reserved members of the team out of their shells, she added.

Strictly Come Dancing is gearing up for its live arena tour next year, which kicks off at the Trent FM Arena Notting in January.ADNFCR-2060-ID-19808336-ADNFCR
