A recent event aiming to give council workers both reward and recognition for their dedication in their job has been hailed a success, it has been reported.
The award ceremony for Castle Morpeth council was held at its final meeting, the Morpeth Herald reports, with the local authority's longest-serving member being praised for her continuing great performance over her 35-year tenure.
Elaine Scrowther, who joined Morpeth borough council in 1974, was hailed for her commitment to such roles as the personal assistant to the chief executive.
Another civic assistant and chauffeur Norman Froud was also saluted for his "exceptional commitment to the mayoralty".
Councillor Brumwell, who presented the awards as part of the recognition scheme, said: "He has presented the council in its best light at all times and deserves special credit for his commitment and dedication right to the end."
Earlier this week, Robert Heller told Management Issues that if a reward and recognition scheme has been implemented at an organisation, they should try to create an additional team building element.
