Acts of kindness are 'great motivator' in the workplace
Date: 04/03/2010
A new report has underlined how acts of goodwill and kindness in the office can really boost morale in the workplace.
In a recent report for the Calgary Herald, a number of businesses were consulted on the grounds of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and how this can be used to boost morale of workers, whether it is through incentives and recognition or otherwise.
Kellie Garrett, who leads the strategy, knowledge and reputation division of Farm Credit Canada (FCC) - an organisation which prides itself on incentives and recognition - said that addressing human resources (HR) in a beneficial way is a matter of protocol for the organisation.
She said: "If a company espouses good corporate citizenry and then actually follows through, then employees are more likely to trust that they will follow through on an internal point of view on things like HR and governance."
Fiona D'Silva, an expert in business and management, recently told the Economic Times that individuals who have a negative influence over the working environment should be targeted by team building corporate events.
