By being realistic at all times with staff, a manager will be able to communicate trustworthiness and improve morale in the workplace, an expert has pointed out.
Abbey Human Resources Director Simon Lloyd explained that effective change is a "long-term game" and this period must be complemented with strong management, as it takes time for employees to adapt.
Furthermore, he explained that directly investing money in staff is also great, perhaps pointing to the benefits of incentives and recognition, or team building corporate events, to keep everyone working in the desired direction.
Through the reinforcement of shared values and ethics within a company, this team building element can be pushed forward with natural commitment to a joint cause, Mr Lloyd added.
This advice is especially true for consumer-facing businesses, according to Forbes, which pointed to the need for on-board staff to deliver the best shopping experience to consumers in the downturn.
