Companies aiming to improve the quality of communication in the workplace through a team building activity must remember that "U" comes before "I" in communication, it has been stated.
Lindsey Pollack of ABC News highlighted the ease of how many resort to texting, emails and phone calls in the modern employee environment instead of meeting with the individual face-to-face.
However, she stressed that despite the notion of conversations in person being most preferable, people should consider the thoughts and feelings of the other individuals before they use the medium of communication they personally believe is right.
Ms Pollack continued: "It's not about what would be easiest, fastest or least scary for you. If you want to get ahead at work, communicate whatever way the other person wants to be communicated with."
Companies may want to expand on their workplace's personal skills through a company event.
According to interpersonal specialist Harriet Meyerson, a network should be developed in a company to improve communication skills as "no-one achieves success alone", emphasising the importance of team building.
