Business leaders must retain their authenticity, integrity and credibility during the recession, one expert advises.This is crucial to motivating employees during difficult economic times, business adviser Ram Charan tells Harvard Business.He comments: "The way to inspire courage and optimism in your employees is by mapping a credible path forward."Managers must not soft-pedal bad news as this could lead to a lack of trust, Mr Charan warns.Cutting corners when it comes to communication is destructive when motivating employees so managers must be honest with staff, he continues."Leaders need to be involved and visible and communicating all the time," the expert adds.Mr Charan's comments are echoed by Tech Republic, which says that strong communication skills between bosses and staff help create loyalty.It urges managers to honour any commitments they make, as not doing so can be harmful when motivating employees.
