So The MotivAction Group decided to found our very own charity project to help worthy local causes:
The Sunflower Project. We chose the
charities by asking staff to vote for the ones that mean to the
most to them. The following two deserving charities were the overwhelming
winners. They serve two different spectrum of needs and both are
incredibly important to ensuring we have a nurturing, sustainable
local community.
Wood Green Animal Shelter: A charity with shelters in Hertfordshire,
Cambridgeshire and London whose mission is to ‘to take in unwanted and lost animals, provide
shelter and care, find secure and loving homes, provide advice, support and guidance
for pet owners and increase the public’s awareness of its responsibility
towards animals in society.’ They also offer temporary fostering
facilities for families in certain circumstances including helping
domestic violence victims flee dangerous environments, knowing
their beloved pet is in safe hands until they relocate.

The MotivAction Group had fun in the sun at the weekend washing
cars to raise money for local charities, Wood Green Animal Shelters,
Garden House Hospice and The Fire Fighters Charity. As part of
the Firefighter’s National Car Wash
fundraising scheme, MotivAction volunteers helped raise £850
at the local Buntingford Fire Station on Saturday.
The MotivAction Group employees based in Ardeley, near Stevenage,
have arranged and taken part in numerous charity events this year
under The MotivAction Group’s The
Sunflower Project which supports our chosen local charities,
Garden House Hospice and Wood Green Animal Shelters. Fundraising
and volunteering events have to date included Halloween themed
fundraiser, cake baking, a Valentine’s
Day love quiz, raffles, volunteering for street collections, and
donations for the charity shops.
Gilly Bowden, from The MotivAction Group, organiser of the charity
car wash event alongside the local fire station said;
‘The
MotivAction Group has thoroughly enjoyed working in partnership
with Wood Green Animal Shelter and Garden House Hospice this year,
along with the Fire Fighters Charity for the National Car Wash.
These are charities whose commitment and dedication provide much
needed assistance in vital areas of our community.
We had great fun on Saturday - washing cars has never been so rewarding.
I would like to thank our volunteers from The MotivAction Group
for being a great team and supporting this cause whole heartedly.’
The MotivAction Group’s Sunflower Project has committed to
further
fundraising events in 2011.
